Abstract We use results from information theory to show that the screening effectiveness of organizations which consist of many fallible agents can be arbitrarily improved, but only if organizational architecture is non-hierarchical. We also examine how any desired outcome may be implemented as a symmetric equilibrium, when agents are selfish.
