Synthesis and Characterization of Silver Nanoparticles using Azadirachta indica (Neem) leaf extract

The synthesis of stable silver nanoparticles by the bioreduction method was investigated. Aqueous extract of Azadirachta indica (Neem) plant was used as reducing and stabilizing agent respectively. On treating silver nitrate solution with Azadirachta indica (Neem) leaf extract rapid reduction of silver ions was observed leading to the formation of stable silver nanoparticles in solution. The characteristics of silver nanoparticles were studied using UV-Vis spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDX). The UV-Vis spectra gave surface Plasmon resonance for synthesized silver nanoparticles at 450 nm.
