Pyramidal horn antenna for ground penetrating radar application

In this contribution, pyramidal horn antenna design and simulation of real-world scenario of antenna in mine detection using PAM-CEM tool has been presented. The designed horn antenna has been simulated to get scattering parameters which is also tested in lab giving satisfactory results. The same antenna has been fabricated and tested for its characteristics. As a second part of the work, A-scans are generated using Vector Network Analyzer (VNA)for the detection of metallic and non-metallic objects. Three different scenarios with different targets are considered for testing of antenna in Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) environment and A-scans are obtained. B-scan is also generated by collecting multiple A-scans.
