Abstract A mathematical model has been developed by incorporating preform density, extrusion strain and temperature using design of experiments (D.O.E). Using this model the final density of the sintered powder metallurgical (P/M) hollow copper extrudates can be ascertained within the ranges of investigation. The main and interaction effects of the process parameters have been studied by using analysis of variance (ANOVA) method. The adequacy of the developed model has been verified by calculating correlation coefficient. Optical microscopy was employed to correlate the effects of process parameters on the microstructures.
