The potential socio-economic effects of climate change in South-East Asia.

The purpose of the study was to: (a) generate estimates of potential impacts of climate change in a form likely to be of use to policy-makers and (b) to test the capability for assessing impacts in tropical developing economies using available information from General Circulation Models. Three countries were studied - Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. A description is given of the methods and models used, the possible physical and economic impacts that may stem from continued emissions of greenhouse gases, and the array of policy responses that may be appropriate. 63 refs., 54 figs., 46 tabs.
