User Survey of Effectiveness of Road Traffic Information for Drivers

The National Institute for Land and Infrastructure Management (NILIM) is evaluating a next-generation road service called “ITS Spot” which utilizes 5.8GHz dedicated short range communications (DSRC). The service has started to provide various services at approximately 1,600 locations, mainly on expressways throughout Japan in 2011. This paper presents the evaluation results of effectiveness on ITS Spot service by conducting a monitoring survey at the Metropolitan Expressway where the first ITS Spot service started from 2009.
