3Dprintingtechnologyhasbeenperceivedasadisruptivetechnologicalinnovationinmanyareas asitcanrevolutionizeexistingsystems.Ithasmanypotentialadvantagesinvariousareassuchas medicine,aerospaceandcustomizedgoodsintermsofintegrity,costandspeed.Thisstudyaimsto visualizetheevolutionof3Dprintingtechnologyrelatedpatentsbypatentmapping,intheprocess, diffusionof3Dprintingtechnologiestodifferentbusinessfieldscanbetracedandevaluated.Patents representthescientificknowledgethathasbeenalreadycommercializedorisreadytobemarketed. Thehistoricalevolutionandcurrentframeworkhavebeendemonstratedbyusingsocialnetwork analysisonCPCcodesoftherelatedpatents.Resultsofthestudysuggestthatmosttechnologies connectedwith3DprintingdependonB29C(shapingorjoiningofplastics;shapingofsubstances inaplasticstate,ingeneral;after-treatmentoftheshapedproducts,e.g.,repairing.).
