TERATOMA OF CONJUNCTIVA

A teratoma is a true tumour or neoplasm composed of multiple tissues foreign to the part in which it arises (Rupert A. Willis)4. Particular tumours can then be designated benign teratoma or malignant teratoma according to their structure and behaviour. Teratomas may occur anywhere in the body. In the eye and its adnexa (Reese)s they are seen at the limbus, internal canthus, orbit and around the base of the nose. Hogan and Zimmermanz mention an unusual example of teratoma with bilateral involvement of nasal and temporal conjunctiva and cornea. Gordiirens mentions light pigmentation of the skin in a case of aberrant lacrimal gland without giving definite diagnosis of the skin condition. The association of conjunctival teratoma with systemic nevus untraced SO far in the ophthalmic or dermatological literature, adds special interest to the present case. '
