Optical Cross-Connect Architectures based on Fibre Bragg Gratings and Optical Circulators

We evaluate the performance of two different architectures of a 2×2 port optical cross-connects using tuneable Fibre Bragg Gratings and optical circulators. The impact of homodyne and heterodyne crosstalk in both configurations is studied. We demonstrate that the proposed cross-connects have the possibility of bidireccionality and are cascadable to N×N ports.
