Heat transfer in polymeric composites containing “thermally active” fillers

Thermal properties of polystyrene composites with a filler showing a solid-solid phase transition have been studied. Differential calorimeter analysis and typical insulation tests have been performed. An analysis of the experimental results has been done, by using the Stefan moving boundary theory, showing that it is inadequate to predict the thermal behavior of composites of the type studied.
