Advanced gear shifting and clutching strategy for parallel hybrid vehicle with automated manual transmission

In this study, the advanced gear shifting and clutching strategy for parallel hybrid electric vehicle with automated manual transmission (AMT) is proposed. The efficient gear shift point considering the fuel consumption of a diesel engine and the efficiency of induction machine can be determined by means of optimization technique, and automatic gear shift can be realized by controlling the AMT. Performing the speed control of the induction machine and the diesel engine, the synchronization at gear shift is guaranteed and it enables reduction of the shift shock and shortens the shifting time. Hence, it results in the improvement of shift quality and the driving comfort of the vehicle. Dynamo-based experiments are carried out to prove the validity of the proposed transmission control strategy.
