Program Value: What Can We Learn From Major Defense Programs?

In program management, several best practices have been developed from major aerospace and defense programs. In this study, we examined seven major defense programs. Our intention was to learn from these successful programs, especially about the concepts of program value. As a result, we are able to suggest the definition of program value, the forms of program value, and some propositions for future research. Our research also suggests a better way to manage a program for the better business results, organized as a conceptual hierarchy of program value.
