Low Power IMDCT Design on FPGA

Nowadays, with the increasing popularity of MP3 audio, there is a need to develop cost and power efficient architectures for the MP3 encoder and decoder. In a MP3 decoder, the IMDCT (Inverse Modified Discrete Cosin Transform) is the most compute intensive operation and it is an power-comsuming process. In this paper, a modified 18/36-point IMDCT algorithm was introduced and implemented for power optimization purpose.
