Abstract The feedback linearization theory has been applied to the study of the movement of a ship represented by a non-linear model. This procedure lets us obtain a partially linear model with the purpose of applying the linear techniques to carry out an asymptotic output tracking with the minimization of several error indexes. The resultant system is then protected with regard to disturbance decoupling.
