A Programme to Integrate Engineering, Creativity and Management in Undergraduate Teaching

An increasingly competitive commercial world places greater emphasis on the creativity and management skills of engineers. There is considerable debate within the engineering education community on how best to develop these skills at the undergraduate level. This paper describes one approach that has been used successfully to integrate engineering, creativioi and management in a graded way throughout the undergraduate programme. A special feature of the approach is the early introduction of creativiv and management in a case study-based subject in the second year of a four-year programme. Subsequent subjects build on this and introduce more advanced or specialised aspects as the student's maturity grows.
