A simplified flux linkage characteristics model of switched reluctance machine

Switched reluctance machine drive requires knowledge of flux linkage characteristics and its partial derivatives for high performance controller design and implementation. A mathematical model, which accurately describes the flux linkage characteristics as well as easily provides its partial derivatives, is proposed in this paper. The proposed model, even though accurate, has fewer parameters than the existing model. The model is validated through measured flux linkage characteristics, prediction of phase current under both single pulse and chopping operation, and estimation of partial derivative of flux linkage characteristics.
