E-Commerce Strategies for Heightened Security Needs of Supply-Chain Management

Companies have continued to place a premium on the management of their supply-chain. Through an effective supply-chain, a firm is able to move toward a just-in-time system of production, with rapid response to market changes. Trust among the various members of the supply chain is crucial for its effectiveness. To increase trust many organizations have created cooperative relationship with suppliers, distributors, retailers, and other firms within the supply chain. Events of September 11 in the United States have added security as a new dimension to the supply chain management. Given the impact of the US economy on the rest of the world, the new security requirements in the US affects businesses globally. This paper brings to the forefront the broad implications of the new security regulations on supply chain management strategies.
