High performance controller design applied to the induction motor via Quasi-Continuous SOSM

Del In this paper, we propose a robust nonlinear controller with high performance and accuracy to control the velocity of an induction motor. This controller is based on a Second Order Sliding Modes technique which is characterized by having Quasi-Continuous control inputs. The control scheme is proposed to regulate the angular velocity and rotor flux module as control outputs. This controller incorporates a state observer for estimating the rotor magnetic fluxes, and a robust differentiator to estimate the sliding manifold derivative; therefore, the estimation of the load torque is not required. The proposed velocity controller, involving the rotor flux observer and robust differentiator, provides robustness, high performances, and accuracy; as is validated by results obtained through digital simulations in Simulink/MATLAB® program.
