FRET Microscopy: Digital Imaging of Fluorescence Resonance Energy Transfer. Application in Cell Biology

Publisher Summary This chapter describes the quantitative implementation of fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) in the light microscope. In this process, energy is transferred from an excited donor D fluorophore to an acceptor A in close proximity. The efficiency varies inversely with the sixth power of the separation, thereby confining the range of finite energy transfer to distances generally
