A 3D propagation model with polarization characteristics in indoor radio channels

Based on the ray optics and uniform geometrical theory of diffraction, one 3D deterministic model with full propagation parameters for indoor radio propagation is presented. Mechanisms for specular reflection and transmission are discussed and one refined model for these mechanisms is proposed. For wideband radio propagation, one frequency domain approach is applied to check the validity of approximation of wideband simulation in the time domain. Comparisons between the 2D and 3D models are made and the effects of diffraction are studied. The polarization characteristics such as cross polarization discrimination and effects of rotations of antennas can also be studied by using this model. To examine the accuracy of the simulations, various numerical results and comparisons with measurements are also provided.<<ETX>>
