PinCloud: Effective Personalization and Self-management of Health Data and Care Services

This paper presents a cloud platform that is developed in the context of PinCloud, a project to improve the personalization of electronic health data and services in Greece. PinCloud shall provide the individual with the means for congregating, managing and disclosing personal health data, with a focus put on support for self-management, telecare and e-learning. The main core of PinCloud lies in the efficient fusion and self-management of healthcare data acquired by diverse sources, such as vital signs posted by connected biosensors and medical records made available after a patient’s interaction with primary and secondary care units. Four real use case scenarios concerning different stages of health and disease management, involving various stakeholders, are presented here. The types of users and information to be supported by PinCloud are also described, followed by a discussion on issues typically expressed in the bibliography in relation to past efforts in these fields.
