Abstract Pressure to reduce CO 2 emissions is driving the automotive industry toward the electrification of powertrains. To support this trend Continental Automotive continues to develop components and advanced system control functionalities. To validate these new control functionalities, the existing Hardware In the Loop vehicle model was extended to include a model of the hybrid system. This paper describes the model requirements, the modelling methodology and the model validation process. Finally an insight is given into some typical use cases for this model during the verification & validation (V & V) phase.
