A Cost-Benefit Analysis Model of Vehicle-to-Grid for Peak Shaving

As an important constituent of smart grid the bidirectional power exchange between power grid and electric vehicles is implemented by vehicle to grid technology. The cost-benefit analysis models for electric vehicle customers and electric power enterprises are established respectively, and taking the peak load of a certain city in 2010 for example the costs and benefits of peak shaving by four brands of grid-connected electric vehicles are analyzed.Research results show that according to battery capacities and charging costs of different brands of electric vehicles, within a certain peak shaving range the total net profit of vehicle to grid is greater than zero, and both power grid and electric vehicle customers can achieve mutual benefit from the allocation of the profit.
