A novel drop-fall algorithm based on digital features for touching digit segmentation

As a contour splitting algorithm, drop-fall algorithm has shown good performance. However, it is defective in locating the start of the algorithm and the seeping process in vertical direction inside character stroke block. To solve these problems, an improved drop-fall algorithm is proposed in this paper, where a main point is cited to determine the location of start point. Meanwhile, the dripping rules are improved to solve the problem of rupture which caused by vertical cutting. Experimental results show that the proposed strategy can improve the accuracy of the segmentation of touching digits.
