Computing Safetime in a Conservative Synchronous Simulation Based on Future Events

In a synchronous, conservative simulation protocol, the logical processes (LP's) execute in super-steps. The number of super-steps is a source of overheads in such a protocol, and depends on the progression of the LPs' safetimes. It is therefore desirable that every LP's safetime progress as far as possible during each super-step. This paper describes how to further relax the safetime computation of an existing synchronous protocol. It discusses the correctness of the modiied protocol, and its eeects on the behavior of two non-trivial simulation models { single factory wafer fab, and supply-link from wafer fab to assembly & test factory.
