Apparatus for changing channel on pvr and method of controlling the same

A channel changing apparatus of a PVR(Personal Video Recorder) and a control method thereof are provided to display image data of a previous channel and the next channel by installing a thumb nail image unit, thereby easily performing channel change. A channel changing apparatus of an image display device(300) having a storage function comprises a key input unit, a storage medium, a controller, an image processor and a display. The controller performs a control operation so that a representative image of a previous watching channel, pre-stored in the storage medium according to a user command inputted through the key input unit, and representative images of a currently watching channel or the next watchable channel can be sequentially displayed on a preset area. The image processor displays one or more among the previous watching channel image and the representative images of the currently watching channel and the next watchable channel in a thumb nail form according to a control signal of the controller. The image processor displays a stored-image list that a user selects.
