New wavelength regions for ultrahigh resolution, spectroscopic OCT

Summary from only given. It is expected that this visible light OCT system will provide sub-micrometer axial resolution and spectroscopic OCT imaging in biological tissue, since its emission bandwidth of the PCF light source overlaps with the so called therapeutic window, covering absorption features of several biological chromophores, like melanin, oxy- and deoxyhemoglobin as well as water. Furthermore high resolution ophthalmologic OCT imaging with enhanced penetration and spectroscopic OCT for differential water absorption measurements in the 900-1100 nm wavelength region should also be enabled with this novel OCT system.
