Time-Resolving Quantum Measurement Enables Energy-Efficient, Large-Alphabet Communication

Record low error rates in discrimination of ultra-faint coherent states are achieved by exploring photon detection times available in quantum measurements, paving the way to the energy-efficient internet of the future.
