Survey of cyber crime activities and preventive measures

Cyber crime is pervasive, pandemic and increasingly connected with other parts of the criminal ecosystem. It ranges from the theft of an individual's identity to the complete disruption of a country's Internet connectivity due to a massive attack against its networking and computing resources. Cybercrime encompasses any criminal act dealing with computers and networks. Additionally, cyber crime also includes traditional crimes conducted through the Internet. The field of Cybercrime is just emerging and new forms of criminal activities in cyberspace are coming to the forefront with the passing of each new day. This paper analyses the categories of cyber crime activities such as Cyber crimes against persons, property and Government and also the measures taken to prevent cyber crimes (1).
