Jindalee over-the-horizon Radar Network: The Government Perspective on Test and Evaluation

The Jindalee Over The Horizon Radar Network project will provide Australia with the capability of wide area surveillance, will develop indigenous technology, and will provide the future potential of overseas sales. This paper provides an introduction to the Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) as an application of the system engineering process for a complex, software intensive project with emphasis on the test and evaluation function. The project is in its development stage and some challenges faced by the Project Office in particular with test and evaluation are discussed.
