IN 1958 an automated teaching project was formed by members of the Research Directorate at the System Development Corporation. The functions of this project were to investigate the current status of automated teaching, to conduct research on variables of automated instruction, and to determine what contribution SDC, as a non-profit corporation, might make in the developmental and applied aspects of this field.
