MIDDLE PENNSYLVANIAN) OF ARIZONA AND A REVISION OF THE FAMILY CROMYOCRINIDAE

Two crinoid faunas of Desmoinesian age, Middle Pennsylvanian, are recognized in the beta member of the Naco Formation of eastern Arizona. One fauna is dominated by a diversity of cromyocrinids and the second contains two cromyocrinids. New species described are: Aglaocrinus konecnyorum, A. nacoensis, Dicromyocrinus beusi, and D. carrizoensis. The families Cromyocrinidae and Ulocrinidae are reviewed and combined. Repeated development of an invaginated cup, biserial arms and ornamentation, reduction of anal plates, and increase in number of arms are noted within the Family Cromyocrinidae. Two new genera are erected, Aaglao- crinus and Mathericrinus, and 23 new combinations are proposed.
