DNS-Relevant content routing algorithm based on maximum network profit

Domain name system-based (DNS-based) content routing algorithm which integrating network performance and client direction information was presented. This algorithm directed by the client's requests to the most appropriated content server based on the user's preference and the load balancing of network. The network profit was calculated using the load information of content server from name server and the routing metrics of network from gateway. Upon receiving a request from a client in its domain, the DNS automatically returned the IP address of a content server available from an IP address pool with maximum network profit. The performance of the proposed algorithm was simulated and compared with DNS round robin and DNS least load. Simulation results show that the average request delay, the average residual bandwidth and the load balancing of network of the proposed algorithm are better than DNS round robin and DNS least load.
