A reliability optimization computer algorithm for complex systems

Abstract In this paper an algorithm for optimization in redundancy allocation, applicable regardless of system structure and nature and number of constraints, is presented. The algorithm initially uses a simple heuristic method to arrive at an approximate start solution and later provides an optimal allocation by using non-linear programming techniques (SUMT or SLUMT) and the improved algorithm of Lawler and Bell. The advantages of the algorithm proposed by us are highlighted.
