Cathodoluminescence study of individual ZnO nanorods

Investigations of individual ZnO nanorod cathodoluminescence (CL) spectra and of low energy electron beam irradiation effect on their optical properties were carried out. The spatially inhomogeneous distribution in the CL emission excitation was observed in some nanorods. The dependence of CL spectra on the nanorod size was revealed. It was shown that the defect-related luminescence is practically absent in these samples. It was observed that the CL intensity of nanorods increased after a short irradiation time with low energy electron beam and then started to decrease (© 2011 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
