Wave reflection and transmission at permeable breakwaters of arbitrary cross-section

Abstract A theory is formulated to predict wave reflection and transmission at an infinite rubble-mound breakwater. The breakwater may be a multilayered structure with arbitrary cross-section. It is assumed that the incident wave is normal to the structure and the wave may be described by linear theory. A hybrid method has been applied to solve the boundary value problem. Comparison between experimental and theoretical results shows reasonable agreement.
