A new approach to the estimation of source motion parameters, part I

Abstract This paper deals with the estimation of source motion parameters in the general context of passive spatio-temporal processings. A general frame has been presented in Part 1 of the paper, but now the problem is specialized to the case of (relatively) close or maneuvring sources. The uncertainties relative to source trajectories are described by Markovian models while the smoothness constraints are related to the hyperparameters defining the temporal evolutions of the state. The proposed methods are based on multiscale analysis of a state-space model of the data. In order to achieve a coherent fusion of the state estimates, the interpolation procedures constitute a basic tool.
