Distributed Multi-Sensor Surveillance: Issues and Recent Advances

Distributed multi-sensor surveillance systems are becoming increasingly important in a variety of military as well as non-military applications. This chapter discusses three important issues regarding design of such systems, namely sensors and sensing technologies, system architecture, and information processing and fusion. Some underlying concepts are illustrated by considering the problem of concealed weapon detection.
