Some Mixtures of Carbon Tetrachloride with Several n-Alkanes: Enthalpies and Energies of Mixing

Molar enthalpies of mixing for the five n-alkanes from pentane through nonane with carbon tetrachloride at 298.15 K have been measured. The maximum values are, with increasing chain length, 295, 315, 339, 373, and 417 J. Energies calculated from the enthalpies are compared with the lattice theory of mixtures. The comparison is also extended through hexadecane, using previously reported results.
