A new call admission control algorithm for multi-class services in wireless ATM

This paper presents a new call admission control (CAC) algorithm for wireless ATM networks. The algorithm can support various multi-class services and guarantee QoS (quality of service) of each call, especially a handover call. The main focus of our scheme is to take account of the individual traffic source model of each service class. By using these traffic source models, we compute the cell loss probability for a system state in order to make a call admission decision, which guarantees not only the requirements of the cell loss rate and delay time but also the minimum blocking rate of new calls. Moreover, since some of the channels reserved by this CAC are used only for handover calls, the mobility of end users can be supported while the handover dropping rate is minimized.
