The conceptual design of the squeeze film damper and variable structure damper

The Squeeze film damper has been extensively researched for engineering application. The conceptual design work in this article includes the description, induction and classification of the squeeze film damper structure, and a brief analysis of the structural features and performance characteristics. Then analytical expression of oil film force of typical local structure in hydrostatic feedback squeeze film damper was put forward, Which can support performance control. The effect law of outside incentives on key parameters and performance of the squeeze film damper was analyzed, and the environmental suitability of this damper was discussed. Therefore a variable structure damper was proposed. The stiffness coefficients and damping coefficients were not constant, but a time-varying function related to environmental conditions. The characteristics of vibration elimination applied to rolling shaft system and the development conceive of squeeze film damper were discussed from the viewpoint of environmental suitability. The design ideas of this variable structure damper provided a theoretical feasibility of damper in the direction of time-varying.
