Nonlinear Flutter Analysis of a Missile Fin/Actuator

An analysis method based on simulation in the time and frequency domain is described for analyzing flutter of a missile fin actuator in the presence of nonlinearities. The method is illustrated by applying it to a hydraulic actuator with backlash and to a pneumatic actuator having nonlinear gas dynamics. All the work was done through computer simulation using the higher order language, ACSL (Reference 1).
