Simultaneous induction heating of SUS vessel and impeller of agitator

In the chemical industry, the mixer or agitator is widely used. To mix the liquid of high viscosity and promote the chemical reaction, heating up the liquid till the proper temperature for the reaction is popular method. Usually the heater is set at outside of the outer vessel. Then getting homogeneous temperature inside the liquid takes long time. The longer the inhomogeneous time is, the larger the consumption of energy and the cost of production are. Therefore the authors have proposed to heat up the impeller directly by induction heating method. Usually the impeller and the container are made from the stainless steel (SUS) as double layer structure. In this paper, feasibility of simultaneous heating of the impeller and the vessel by the induction heating is investigated. The measurement of power transfer with the equivalent coil circuit is proposed to measure the parameters necessary for the optimum design of the system. The effectiveness of the power transfer to the impeller is confirmed.
