Simplified multi-carrier pulse width modulation schemes for multilevel converters

Currently multilevel inverters are commonly modulated using multi-carrier pulse width modulation (MCPWM) techniques due to its simple implementation and realization to various topologies. Simplified simulation modeling of several MCPWM techniques for `n' level generation is discussed in this paper. Modulation techniques are presented for 5-level cascaded H-Bridge (CHB) and compared to show the feasibility of the techniques having low THD. The simulation results of the modulation techniques are presented in MATLAB/Simulink environment to prove the viability of the schemes.
