Image processing on personal computers

A weighed evaluation based on user interface, functionality, flexibility, and response time is proposed, and weigh factors are given for image analysis. As a first test, four systems are evaluated using the proposed evaluation: for the Macintosh II TCL-image and Image, for the IBM-PC TIM, and for the ATARI-SI AIM. Digital signal processors are described from an image-processing point of view. Addressing, parallel processing, processing units, and software support requirements are discussed.<<ETX>>
