The intention of this research is to find the characteristic method of Korean traditional villa in its creation of architecturally diversified space and enhancing the depth of space. The relationship between th e method of composing the architectural frame and the theories of Oriental painting composition become the main structure of this analysis. The theory of close-middle distance-long view, zigzag flow ov view point through the layered space construction, asymmetrical balancing, and shifting perspective were to be found in the research on Naksunjae, a private set of housings for the King within the palace of the Chosun Dynasty. According to this constant feature, several restorations and corrections made under the Japanese Colonial Period could be considered an error, as can be checked in the layout drawing of East Side Palace, made in the early 1900s.
