Achieving comfort in intimate apparel

Abstract: Intimate apparel is depicted as human’s second skin, so is the most important clothing layer for achieving comfort. The comfort issues for intimate apparel are multidimensional and interrelated. This chapter explains the common factors in five essential aspects: (a) sensorial, (b) thermal, (c) motion, (d) aesthetical and (e) hygienic comfort. The relevant research findings are discussed and new technologies achieving the overall comfort of intimate apparel are introduced.
