Partial Fraction Expansion Based Fractional-Order Filter Designs

A multi-function fractional-order filter topology, realized through the utilization of the partial fraction expansion tool, is introduced in this paper. Thanks to the employment of the log-domain technique, the topology offers the benefit of the electronic tuning of the filter characteristics and, also, reduced MOS transistor count in comparison with the corresponding already published structures. The evaluation of the behavior of the filters has been performed using the Cadence software and MOS transistor models provided by the Austria Mikro Systeme $0.35\mu m$ CMOS process.
