A Study of InAs Hall Generator as a Circuit Element

ABSTRACTA commercial InAs Hall generator has been studied as a circuit element. It is shown that the four-terminal approach provides a useful tool for studying the performance of a Hall generator. The four terminal parameters are first derived with the help of suggested empirical relations giving the variation of the conductivity and Hall voltage of the sample with magnetic field. Utilizing these results, expressions are given for the input and output impedances, current and voltage gains and efficiency of the Hall generator as a function of magnetic field. These expressions are compared with experimental results and fair agreement between the two is observed. A simple method of choosing the proper termination for linearizing the Hall voltage characteristic is suggested.
