Diabetes Education Program Evaluation: Ensuring Effective Operations

The effectiveness of a diabetes education program is evaluated not only in clinical terms but also in operational terms. Each program needs to be routinely assessed in order for it to be considered comprehensive. This chapter will highlight the rationale for program evaluation, recommend how to use a variety of metrics to assess program impact, and provide practical suggestions for ways to help demonstrate the value of a diabetes education program.
